Black Cat proves luck is on his side!
11 February 2017
Opinion varies on whether black cats are lucky or not, but one black cat carries his own luck with him.
Hit by a car which did not stop in Talybont on Sunday, which smashed his pelvis, he was picked up by Aberystwyth Cats Protection and rushed to an Aberystwyth veterinary surgery where a vet was on hand for an initial examination.
X-rays revealed the broken pelvis making major surgery necessary. This was performed at a special surgery in Llanidloes where initial fears were that he might not make it.
By Wednesday evening the good news was that he had come through and was showing interest in food. The four or five-year-old is now convalescing under the eye of a Cats Protection carer, seemingly none the worse for his experience although he must have used up a couple of his nine lives to survive the impact and serious surgery.
“It’s all in a day’s work really," said branch fundraising officer Ann FitzGerald. “Not many cases are as serious – or as expensive – as this though.”
Saving Elvis – as he has been called – will take well over £1,000 out of branch funds in treatment costs.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to help cover Elvis’ care bill can do so at Aberystwyth Cats Protection’s next collection day outside Barclays Bank in Aberystwyth on Saturday, 18 February.
